Looking back at this thread i've realized that i was truly looking for goa. And i still am. I dunno what it is about goa that i love so much but i definitely think it has more substance and goa tracks tend to be less boring than psy. Have you heard any of these artists? Afgin, Ajna, Artifact303,E-Mantra, Ethereal, Filteria, Radical Distortion, Shakta? They are all on a compilation called 'Opus Iridium' that I've been listening to.

Its more what I would consider to be an older goatrance sound (think Astral Projection), but the production techniques make it more modern sounding. Is that what you are looking for? If not, can you think of a good example of what you are after? When I think of 'goatrance' that is the sort of mental image I get, that sort of sound and aesthetic. Whenever I think 'goa' I tend to conjure up thoughts of a slower trance sound, but not so much of that really specific acid-trance offshoot type sound. I think of complex layers of melodic sound, an earthen feel to it, sounds derived more directly from 'organic' sources like bongo or a wooden flute or stick drawn across a washboard type surface.

Rather than something that can be produced entirely in software alone. That kind of a weird distinction to make I guess, but I can't ever get it out of my head and I think I get what people are trying to say mixed up a lot. What I describing as how I see 'goa' is my favorite style. A lot of modern pysdub is off that direction I guess.

If you like stuff like that, what are some of your personal favorites? Some good examples of the kind of sound I'm looking for: Man with No Name - Teleport Man with No Name - Sly Sd Hallucinogen - LSD (and pretty much anything by Hallucinogen) Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy Astral Projection - People Can Fly Transwave - Land of Freedom Try to find these albums.

All of these are classic goa trance. My favorties are in bold. Space Tribe - Sonic Mandala Colorbox - Train to Chroma City Green Nuns Of the Revolution - Rock Bitch Mafia Etnica - Alien Protein & Plastic Shakta - Silicon Trip Chi-A.D.

Infinitism X-Dream - We Created Our Own Happiness Prana - Cyclone Sandman - Witchcraft Dimension 5 - Transdimensional Ra - To Sirius California Sunshine - Nasha Total Eclipse - Delta Aquarids Cosmosis - Synergy Pleiadians - IFO Human Blue - Ice Oforia - Delerious The Infinity Project - Feeling Weird Koxbox - Forever After Doof - Let's Turn On Miranda - Phenomena Pigs in Space Hmm. I could go on, but I think that is enough to get you started. In the meantime, you could listen to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGBK2NHprek&feature=related.

There is a live mix by Doctor Goa (2 CD set) I've been listening to that covers what I see as the modern Goa sound, going through a lot of different material, but staying mostly in the progressive psy type area as far as speed and structure of the music. Its more focused on melody, and locking down into a groove and making all this graudal changes in the atmosphere.

But while keeping everything interesting and never turning into screeching stuff. Sometimes it moves off into the almost progressive house direction at one end, and more full-on psy at the other. Its pretty good, check it out. 'Doctor Goa - At Tanz in den Mai, Open Air Party. Perfect music for a party in the forest with a nice blue sky. My favorite Goa mix.

Old school 94-96 set from a great S.F. Psymbolic Part 3: Inspiration of the Spirit Artist/ Song/ Label (Year Released) 1. Masaray - Time Traveler Of Trance - Flying Rhino (95) 2.

Transdimensional Physics

Chakra - Hell Razer Puzzle - Krembo (96) 3. Har-el - Nothings Wrong In Dreaming - Nephilim (95) 4. Juno Reactor - Magnetic - Blue Room (95) 5. Cosmosis - San Yacid - Transient (95) 6.

Etnica - Tribute - Blue Room (95) 7. Astral Projection - Kabalah - Phonokol (96) 8.

Rar

Transwave - Cycles Of Life - Symbiosis (95) 9. Phreaky - Paranormal Activity - Dragonfly (96) 10.

X-Dream - We Created Our Own Happiness - Tunnel (96) 11. Shakta - Lepton Head (Deedrah Remix) - Phantasm (97) 12. Man With No Name - Lunar Cycle - Dragonfly (95). Filteria - daze of our lives - awesome cd, less in your face synthy than sky input.

I got that one last week along with the sundrops (which i also highly recommend, like most other stuff from suntrip records. Ideal melodic morning sound). It is by far the best filteria album up to now. The melodies in sky input or heliopolis often sound a bit pointless, but with daze of our lives everything just fits nicely together.

It's good to see a goa trance thread here on bluelight. The renaissance of goa trance finally is coming. Every year there are more arstists and more albums and compilations released:D Dimension 5 - Transdimensional why isn't this one bold? It's the best album ever released;) @artists similar to astral projection i think artifact303 and afgin come closest. I even like artifact303 more than ap lately.

An album would be great. Have any of you guys heard of Sneila? I listened to 2 of his tracks on this Pure Planet compilation album. The Dreamer's Guide and Flying Objects Always Reach The Ground (Really good stuff. Do you guys know if he's made any new music since then? Yep, I have every track by him, he also has a track called We Breath Air (DJ Zen rmx) on V.A. Peace Therapy (Kagdila Records), but its ambient.

If you havnt heard it yet you are in for a treat. Flying Objects Always Reach The Ground is one of my all time favorite tracks, that lead synth is just so fucking good. Sneila is one of the best goa producers to come out in recent years, too bad he stopped producing. I've talked to him on various occasions and he isn't producing anymore, does a webdesign business.

Transdimensional Warfare Chapter 1

Told me he sold all his producing equipment:( I used flying objects in my mix Summoning of Earth Warriors (and The Dreamers Guide in another mix called The Immortal Coil (webpage here I've got Pure Planet 3 coming in the mail.son of bitch aint here yet!!!!!:X Also picked up a goa compilation called The Sitting Goddess. So where do you guys find parties that have Goa? I would love to attend a party that had some Goa. Sadly, it seems like most of the parties around here only play psytrance. The short answer: i don't:( this year there's two festivals in my country where exactly one goa act will be playing. But still the situation is improving, last year there were absolutely no goa acts anywhere to be found and it wasn't looking like any would be playing anytime soon, but now i've seen filteria and that gave me new hope::) my tactic is introducing as many psy-heads as possible to the music and not shutting up about wanting to hear goa artists on the local psy messageboard;) btw: 'alternative colours' compilation is out now as well as the 'artificial sun' compilation by phototropic records.
