Hi, I'm afraid this is not possible, nor is it present on our list of features. The shortcuts are created using the standard support offered by Windows Installer, i.e. Using the MSI tables ' and '. I recommend you modify the changes of your cleaner tool so that is does not deletes resources from '%SystemRoot% Installer'.

This is not recommended by Microsoft, this is even why the folder is hidden all the time. Deleting resources from this location could also break patches or corrupt the installations so that you will be required the original setup package for performing standard operations like and upgrade, repair or modify. Regards, Bogdan.

I have had a problem for about a year surrounding Advanced Installer and the installed icons. I have seen others report the issue in other threads and no resolution. Here is what happens. When I install our program using advanced installer and then later install another application on the computer, the desktop icon for our application created with Advanced Installer is missing and whited out. We had a customer call and tell us about this, but we didn't know what the trigger was. Today, I installed the Microsoft Sync ToolKit 2.1 and sure enough the application icon for our program was gone.

We truly feel that this is a problem with Advanced installer as all icons of all other installed applications remain intact without issue.

Hi Manfred, In order to change the icons in an Advanced Installer project you can go in the following pages: - 'Control Panel Icon' in the Product Details page - 'EXE Icon' in the Media page (the icon of the EXE package) - 'Icon File' for a shortcut in the Files and Folders page (double-click on the shortcut and click on the. button from the right of the 'Icon File' field) The icon can be chosen from a file that is available on the disk (i.e. '.ico', '.exe'). Let us know if this helped. Best regards, Eusebiu. Hi, does this mean I have to choose the 'Source-File' for Icons.

In other words (for the shortcut example). The shorcut leads to APPDIR MyProgramm.exe And the icon has to be set to C: MyProjects MyProgramm bin release MyProgramm.exe Does this mean that AI 'knows' that this is the installed file and not the file in C: MyProjects.?? And how is this handled for multiple configurations (like debug / relase)? The installed source changes from C: MyProjects MyProgramm bin RELEASE MyProgramm.exe to C: MyProjects MyProgramm bin DEBUG MyProgramm.exe Manfred.

And how is this handled for multiple configurations (like debug / relase)? The installed source changes from C: MyProjects MyProgramm bin RELEASE MyProgramm.exe to C: MyProjects MyProgramm bin DEBUG MyProgramm.exe As I mentioned above, if no icon is manually set for a shortcut, then it will automatically use the icon of its source file. If the source file is replaced in the project, the shortcut will change its icon according to the new source.

Best regards, Eusebiu Yes - but what if I have multiple Icons in my Source file and want to use (just for an example) the third Icon and not the first. I VS Installer I just selected 'ProjectOutput/MyExe.exe' and select the Icon Resource. But with AI I either have to choose a specific file (which makes a problem with different build configurations) OR set no Icon manually - which results in the use of the first Icon in the exe. Not a stopper - but a 'step back' from what I used to do with (the much more primitive) VS Installation solution.

Thank you for the answers Manfred. Hi Manfred, In case, you have multiple builds and you want to select different shortcut icons for each build you can go in the Table Editor page, 'Shortcut' table, right-click on your shortcut and choose the 'Edit Row' option. Premium 2 weave.

In the newly appeared dialog select the 'Icon' column, select the build you want from the 'Build' combobox, check the 'Use specific value' option and enter the full path to the icon that you want to use for the currently selected build. Let us know if this is your scenario, otherwise please give us more details. Best regards, Eusebiu.
